FOR COLLEAGUES

For fellow therapy professionals, I offer consultation and supervision on high-risk clients and coaching on writing for publication.

CONSULTATION ON HIGH-RISK CLIENTS

Consultation and supervision on high-risk clients can be helpful both for the client and for the therapist. Before concentrating full-time on private practice, I was a supervisor for five years at the Center for Intensive Treatment of Personality Disorders at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, a specialist day-treatment program for profound interpersonal difficulties, chronic suicidal thoughts, self-harm, eating disorders, and addictions. I supervised many pre- and post-doctoral trainees on individual and group therapy and psychological assessments. I was part of continuous consultation and peer supervision groups for therapists throughout that period. I eventually left that position as the senior Supervising Psychologist on the staff. In working directly with hundreds of the most high-risk and challenging clients over this period, I acquired experience and techniques that most therapists working in outpatient clinics or private practice do not have the opportunity to develop, and I am now pleased to be able to share those skills with colleagues in consultation.

WRITING FOR PUBLICATION

As past editor of an online journal (the Candidate Journal) and an editorial reader and reviewer for major international print journals (the Psychoanalytic Quarterly, Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association, the International Journal of Psychoanalysis), I regularly work with clinicians on improving their articles for premier publications. I have authored articles and reviews for leading publications including the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association, the International Journal of Psychoanalysis, the Psychoanalytic Quarterly, Contemporary Psychoanalysis, the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, the Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology, Psychology Evolution and Gender, and the American Journal of Psychology. I currently serve on the editorial boards of the Psychoanalytic Quarterly and International Journal of Psychoanalysis, two leading therapy journals. As an experienced author, reviewer, and editor, I can help you to develop your own writing from the idea stage all the way to submitting a manuscript and making revisions to accepted articles.
